Re: Oily substance in intake manifold
Hi guys,
sorry for the late replay.
The plugs look fine, they all did have a very thin layer of carbon, but I still have some trouble with the carb (idle jets keep being clogged due to very...

Oily substance in intake manifold
Hello guys,
today I changed the old, warped manifolds for new ones. While doing so I noticed an oily substance trapped below the valves in block and intake manifold. It's only on the...

Re: Snyder's drops Signal Stat 900
I have one of the cheap chrome units installed. It did rattle like hell at first, there's no denying that.
But after I went through the entire body it's perfectly silent now, even on rough roads or...

Re: Piece of puley broken off
Yes, it will change the balance of the engine. But I don't think it will be noticeable or considerably increase the wear of the engine because the part is relatively small, quite close to the center...

Re: Break noise.
Check your right side then.
I adjusted mine (without changing shoes or drums) and the brakes don't pull to either side, even when braking hard.

Re: Mysterious LED turn signal problem
What's the current rating of the relay? Your bulbs will draw more current when the voltage rises, so maybe it only works with the engine off because the relay can only JUST handle the current of the...

Re: Break noise.
Just loosen the main nut and pull the drum. The only thing that will come apart is the key on the axle. Other than that everything should be held together if nothings broken.
Don't shuffle the...

Re: Break noise.
How good does it stop? Do you need a lot of pedal force for itto stop properly? If so it could be that your brake shoes have become too hot at one point. As said in post #2 sand them and see if the...

Re: Synchro kit?
Depends on how you change gears. If you change slow enough it won't grind. If you want / need to change the gears fast, it will most likely grind.
I've come to use specific points for up- and...

Re: Synchro kit?
While your first sentence is right, please don't encourage others to shift without using the clutch. Every time I read about this practice (no matter if it's a bike or a car) I cringe.
But I...

Re: Rusty instrument panel
If you want to use steel wool, use stainless steel wool. Otherwise it will rust again because small particles of the wool stay in the instrument panel and start to rust.
I would use NevrDull for...

Re: Trailer width for a model A
Sure, a tandem trailer is better, but we didn't have any trouble hauling our Roadster on a single axle trailer. Had to remove the trapaulin though because the trailer is just a tad bit too small for...

Re: In line fuel filter
Had that same problem as well. Sometimes it would work, sometimes the filter would run empty. I found that pre-filling it so there was as few air as possible left inside the filter did help a lot.

Re: Trailer width for a model A
Keep in mind that you still have to get out of the car. Easy if it's a trailer with tarpaulin but maybe difficult if you have a trailer with fixed sides.
