Re: Tailgate anti-rattle balls (1938 SW)

You may want to try a hole saw. Looks like most of the small ones have a diamond grit cutting edge. Not sure how that would work but if the ball was frozen it might just be the ticket. A regular...

Re: First 100 Miles!!! Or a touch more. My '39 Pickup

Very nice! Of course I'm partial to the '38/'39' trucks. I do think you should add addition lighting if you are going to be doing much driving. I have L and R tail/brakes lights and people were not...

Re: Clutch

I don't know how your '36 frame compares to my '38 pickup but in mine the '39 clutch pedal bottoms out on the frame when fully depressed. This limits the pedal travel and thus limits the...

Re: 12v conversion 59a starter solenoid 4 pole. 46 Mercury.

Not familiar with your solenoid but when I changed to 12V neg earth (ground) I had to add a 12V relay to get my stock starter button to work.

The starter button grounds the relay and the relay...

Re: Cleaning an early aluminum intake

I have blasted aluminium and then gone over it with fine wire brush in a drill motor and that gave it a look very sim to that NOS photo above.

Re: Rust Oleum spray cans

Just went through this a couple of months ago. I contacted RO customer service and they sent me a dozen new nozzles for free. They also included a set of instructions that the nozzles should be...

Re: Question about 1938 Ford pickup

You can see the '38 grill sitting in the cab but you can't tell for sure what year the truck is from the grill. Ford made the '39 grills with mounting holes for both the '39 latch catch and the...

Re: Question about 1938 Ford pickup

Another way to tell the is that the '38 has the front windshield "T" shaped crank handle coming out the face of the dash top. The 39 has a round knob on top of the dash.

Re: Gas Tank Renu

The Tank Renu that did mine actually cut the tank open and sandblasted it. The guy said it only "woofed" a couple of times while he was cutting it open.

Re: Gas Tank Renu

I believe that each shop was a independently owned franchise. Some did good work and others didn't.

Re: Gas Tank Renu

Had my pickup tank done by them about 20 years ago and it seems fine so far. I do have a good inline fuel filter just inches from the tank and I run non-ox gas.

Re: Lost part, lock ring for speedo

It shouldn't come off unless the cable end has been damaged. I'm betting that it has slid forward on the cable.

You will love the new coated Red's headers. Mine are 20 years old and look like new. Did you polish the intake yourself?

Re: New to the Flathead game and need advice

My pickup has 29" dia tires a 3:54 rear end and a T5 transmission. I love the T5's overdrive and it was basically a bolt in swap with the existing floor shift. There are adapters available for the...
