The "Tom Cat" brand works great. The bait stations can be refilled after you learn how to lift the tabs. I also use just thee bait in plastic cups where animals can't get at them. This stuff works...

The common type you're thinking of is for a compression fitting. The type with the straight end is for soldering onto the copper tubing, just like those used in the early gas gauge...

I also want to point out that the type of fitting in the kits with the ends that you want, are not compression type. There is no ferrule that crimps the tubing. The mechanical restraint is through...

I just did extensive searching. It appears that SW no longer sells the copper tubing kit, only nylon. On ebay however you can find the kit cheap. no offerings of fittings only but the price is right....
