Re: Charlie N.Y. Band for life from Ford Barn

Do you know something we don't? I don't think I've ever seen a political post from Charlie.

Re: Over 7 qts of oil!!!

Either the tube is too long or the dipstick is too short. Tube should be 8 21/64" long

Re: Sad news

Wow, what terrible news. I too met John out at Bonneville in 2008. Complimented him on his book. A real pleasure to talk to. A sad day in the flathead world. May he rest in peace.

Re: Engine temp rises when I get to cruise speed

Re: Engine temp rises when I get to cruise speed

Why not bump the timing up where it should be for cruising and see if the temp comes down. Just don't romp on it.

Re: Engine temp rises when I get to cruise speed

I'm curious. Does the blower really come in to play under your present normal driving conditions, i. e. cruise?

Re: carburation

The Holley 390 is normally operated from the driver's side. I modified the linkage on my 390 to move it ti the passenger side.

Re: carburation

I run a 390 cfm on my car and have built 2 or 3 more with the same carb. Pretty much a bolt on. Very little adjustment needed.

Re: timing again

It is not after TDC, it is before TDC. If it runs well, leave it be.

Re: 40 V8 stumbling when accelerating in 1st and 2nd

Same thing happened to me on the 60 hp in that MG. The accel pump stuck in the front carb. These are genuine Stromberg accel pumps.

Re: 40 V8 stumbling when accelerating in 1st and 2nd

All you need to do is pop the caps off, disconnect the vac line and ignition wire. Remove the 3 bolts and pull it out.

Re: Is there a PERTRONIX MODULE SURGE Protector?

This is the reason you need to use the correct coil, Measure the primary coil resistance and knowing the voltage, calculate the amperage.
