Re: modern shock upgrade

Snyders shock kit uses regular shocks that are not gas charged, but that kit is more expensive than the other kit mentioned. I bought and installed one of the kits with the gas charged shocks. I...

Re: Speedometer display bounces

Pull out the cable in the middle and lube the whole length with lubriplate, they had the same problem with newer cars with speedocables

Re: Engine bearing questions

I used the rope seal from Snyders for the front. I’m glad I did because the modern seal I do not believe would have worked because the crank was not centered in the hole, it was much closer to the...

Re: Engine bearing questions

Went for a test drive, not expecting perfection, but so far no leaks. Also, the new Mitchell transmission is working really well. Along with a synchronized second and third gear it also has a higher...

Thank you everyone for the great advice! Still waiting on parts.I’m so glad I listened and pulled the engine, I couldn’t be doing a good job from underneath with all I found wrong. All the bearing...

Re: Engine bearing questions

There was definitely only one shim on one side. The drain tube was there. It was about a 3 inch piece of 1/8” pipe nipple, how long should it be?
when I put the bearing cap on I torqued the nuts to...

Modern shocks and leaf spring source

I want to add shocks and new leaf springs to my 31 roadster this winter, and it seems like at a lot of places things are out of stock. Can anyone recommend a place that has them?

Re: How common is it to just take the shocks off?

I’m thinking this winter when I replace the leaf springs I’ll buy a set of more modern shocks at the same time. My car is mostly stock so I hate to do it but less expensive and better has a certain...

Problem installing full flow oil filter kit

I had problems installing the copper tubing into the oil gallery. It was just to long to start straight so I added a couple small extra small bends to get it started thinking I could straighten then...

Classtique didn’t want to get involved in making a couple pieces but said he’d sell me the material and fasteners.

Re: Convertible top missing a couple pieces

I’m missing the left rear side curtain and the left filler piece that goes over the left door. I also don’t have the cover boot for when it’s down.
