Re: Model B engine in an A

Having drilled through the deck surface of countless As and many Bs I can say I saw a trend. A blocks the decks all seem to be about 3/8"s thick. Early Bs the deck seems to be about 1/4" inch thick....

Re: Tdc

You could just buy a new stick on timing tape, overlay the nurex tape aligning with your pulley zero mark or just make a new mark on your pulley to align with the nurex zero, notch or white paint...

Re: Transmission overhaul.

The shifter tip does not keep the gears engaged and only places them in the proper position. Sure it holds the gear in position but under load it is the cut of the gear that holds the gears from...

Re: Model B distributor on Model A

The B distributor can be made to work on an A just fine. You just need to know where you want your initial timing too be and where you want your total timing to end up. Lots of good info here. Part...

An interesting post I have watched. There seems to be a lot of lost practical knowledge or what could be called common knowledge in older times. Although this thread wS centered on transmissions...

Re: Piston Ring Gap Question

I think .003 per inch of diameter is pretty clear. These specs are always for the minimum clearance. If fitting/xhecking rings in a new cylinder then an inch down from the top is enough for checking...

Re: Please Help with Flywheel Decision

Just use the lightened flywheel with V8 pressure plate. You have a light car. The response of the engine to the throttle will make up for any lost inertia. Yes other factors mentioned affect the...

Re: engine vibration

If it were me I would completely disassemble the engine . I would send out for balancing. The crank, flywheel, pressure plate, disc, pulley, fan, rods, pistons. If you don't you are just guessing.

Gee I wish I had seen

Re: My First A - 1931 S/W Fordor

True on the milage on the speedo, broken cables were common as the car aged.BUT, I notice the oil change stickers on the door jamb. Those will tell a lot. Mine say 46k in in 1966 which matched...

Re: Low Beam Light Switch won't stay in position

Kevin you might be able remove the bail and drop the switch down, undue the clip then pull the switch and horn rod up some and lubricate the bushing.that sits in the end of the tube. That might free...

Re: My First A - 1931 S/W Fordor

Re: Speedometer Cable - right or wrong way to reinstall after lub.

Kevin, just saw your message. You are right if the round stock is too big. You might find a nail that will fit in the square hole at the drive gear. You just need a piece long enough. Maybe 1/4" to...

Re: Float-A-Motor Mount on 28 roadster with fixed front mount
