The aluminium one looks just like the iron one I took out of the 59 series flatty. The 59 type pickup housing would bolt straight on. It wouldn't need any mods for use on a 59 series (or older)...

59 series post ww2 flatty. It might be significant that the motor was stored upside down or on it's side. The oil pan is next on the list for a close inspection. There is no sign of similar erosion...

I started cleaning the oil pump for the Old 59 Flatty and i couldn't believe what I found.

I would have thought the oil pump would have been the last thing to have rotted out.
