Re: What wheels are on this car?

I would guess that the wheels are about '40 Ford but for what I am going to say it doesn't matter. The Model A (and Ford cars through 1935) mounted the wheels at two separate levels (while later...

Re: Best choke for downdraft carb?

When I see an alternator on a Model A it is a total turn off. I would go the EVR or adapt a later generator.

Re: Removing the Flywheel

I am not that familiar with what you are working on but is there any chance you could remove the bearing and replace it while leaving the flywheel on the crank? A lot of people remove pilot bearings...

Re: 1951 flathead to C4 conversion

I think I have read about what you are looking for. Also try posting on HAMB. They also have the 10 post rule for wanted ads if I remember correctly.

Re: Trrans adapt q.

Go to "search" and then "advanced search". Search for "automatic transmission" (note the "" marks are important. Restrict the search to the Model A Forum. You will find threads like this:...

Re: 1931 Model A Roadster WIW

Remember it is frequently better to buy one that is finished and not try to piece one together, especially if you are new to Model A's. We do look forward to seeing the pictures.

Re: how long does a sale usually take?

I would add "clean title and current registration", if that is correct.

Re: Rear Brakes

If you could remove the axle nuts with your fingers that means all of the torque was going through the key. Check the axle for cranks starting to form. If it was me I would have the keyway...

Re: Early Ford Hydraulic brakes in 1931 Fordor

So we have a starting point how about pictures of your backing plates (at 6 o'clock) and your master cylinder. Also the linkage. Does the linkage give you the correct ratio for the master cylinder....

Re: Odometer reset

I think the real test would be whether or not it was done to defraud a buyer. Another situation would be that the whole speedometer is often replaced during a restoration. I doubt it would ever be...

Re: Considering converting sealed beam back to original......what does this entail?

Sounds like you are headed in the right direction. Be sure to get the reflectors from Bratton's or someone that handles their reflectors. They spent the money to make the correct tooling, many of...

I am not sure I understand your comment, maybe it needs to be expanded. The car is a 1931.

Re: Brake drums

Contact local Model A and Early V8 Clubs and see where they take them. Be sure you don't take them to someone that has never done it before.

If you had it apart you may have missed the groove on the gear when you reinstalled the tower. Any recent work?
