Re: Hub Cap Identification

Good job! Thats probably it. I've been looking at images of hubcaps all day and never thought about Plymouth. I gooled Plymouth and found a couple of pictures on caps with "Plymouth" under the sails....

Hub Cap Identification

Anybody have an idea what these hubcaps fit. They are chrome but do not show up well in the picture. Neither of them look like they have ever been installed since there are no scratches on the...

Re: Finally finished

Thanks for all the kind compliments! I think they are Teds floaters. My dad purchased them years ago, so I'm really not sure. The linings are the woven material instead of the recommended molded. So...

Finally finished

After several years and lots of distractions, the 35 Phaeton is finally done. Just got the license plates for it and now for the 'shake down' runs. A few trips up and down the road to 'see what falls...

Re: 35 Phaeton body width difference

I thought about the pad also. But it would have to be over an inch thick on top of the hump and zero on the sides. Not a good solution. Our dimensions are pretty close. But that doesn't explain the...

Re: 35 Phaeton body width difference

Dave - Thanks for the info. That has got me wondering now what I have. The car is 95% finished. All I lack is installing the top (now realizing that it may be 2" short or 2" too wide), the carpet,...

35 Phaeton body width difference

I ran into something odd. Was there any difference in the floor pan width on the 35 Phaetons? I ordered a rear carpet to replace the rubber mat from one of the best known interior suppliers. I found...

Re: T-5 to flathead won't shift into gear with engine running.

Donald - good point. I have run into that same problem also, but didn't remember to put in my previous post. Any good clutch shop should be able to reverse the hub.

Re: T-5 to flathead won't shift into gear with engine running.

The clutch disk could also be bent. Easily done durning installation or shipping. The excessive runout will cause this problem . The pressure plate only lifts the plate about .040" off the clutch...

Re: T-5 to flathead won't shift into gear with engine running.

Your bronze bushing might be the problem. It has no lubricating properties. You need an oilite bushing. It is oil impregnated and is the material that OEM bushings are made from. The bronze will gall...

Re: Crazy water temp gage

Bad grounds can do odd things on plastic cars. I have a 62 that when you pushed on the brake pedal, the gas gage would go full.

Re: Crazy water temp gage

Success!! I started with the easiest part first. I added some grounds between the dash and body, body to frame, and frame to engine. This time I made sure to scrape all the paint and powder coating...

Re: Crazy water temp gage

I had to postpone the temp gage project. I got an order for more car show awards. They keep adding classes. It's up to 49 awards now.
I did start it up and found another symptom that points to the...

Re: Crazy water temp gage

I haven't checked the cap tube for heat yet or voltage drops. I just thought about the grounding deal while I was writing the post. I'll do that tomorrow. That might very well be the problem since I...

Crazy water temp gage

I can't figure out what is causing this, so I'll ask for ideas. I have a 35 with the red fluid filled temp gage. It's probably original because the fluid has been red since 1975 or longer. The car...

Re: Mounted some gages

Did not bend the shifter. I made a cardboard pattern before I cut it out to check for clearance. Reverse comes right up close to the panel, but does not touch it. I made it symetrical so second gear...

Mounted some gages

Mounted a temp gage and voltmeter in the 35 Phaeton after its first drive in 15 years. I found a piece of sycamore and made this panel. I think it turned out pretty good. The red fluid in the temp...

Re: LED Tail Lights.

Being so tight that I squeek, I didn't want to spend big bucks for a LED light bulb. So, I made my own. I'm changing the car to 12V neg gnd, but the same setup can be made for 6V pos gnd just by...
