Re: Break-in gone wrong!
I don’t think installing the rear cam bearing sideways to block the fuel pump pushrod hole is a well-known trick. I kinda doubt your installer did it, but you can check by putting the pushrod in and...

Re: New build overheating
Looks like the efire is set to 22 degrees at full advance. Stock distributor is 24 like Bored&Stroked said. I have a crab dist with a pertronix, and I set the timing by marking TDC on the crank...

Re: New build overheating
Did you drill small holes in the thermostats? And did you place them on the head water necks, or down the hoses near the radiator?

Re: New build overheating
Take the radiator cap off when cold and look for bubbles in the coolant as it runs. You can buy test kits that check for exhaust gasses in the coolant also. The mechanical temp gauges are a good...

Re: New build overheating
I second the 180 stats. Your engine will run a bit hot for a couple hundred miles since it is new and tight. And your radiator will find the right coolant level. I agree with everyone, it may not be...

Re: Front Shock Removal
So, jack stands if you want more working room, but if you can reach in there with the car on all 4 tires, you can take them off like that as well.

Re: Looking for a machine shop
I had the same experience as Bruce two years ago in the Chicago area. The flathead machinist I was using could not guarantee the repair would hold up. I ended up finding a better block.

Re: Fender stuff - '35 pickup
I can’t really tell from the picture, but are you looking for “fender welting?” Like Bill said, it’s for sale at many places.

Re: 40 Ford Sedan Shocks
Kube, how do you apply the STP oil? Do you use the zerk or apply it to the outsides of the springs and let it seep in?

Re: Muffler help
I’m glad to hear you are giving Waldrons a chance to remedy the problem and troubleshoot with you. My experience with them was all good for a stainless system on my 41 pickup. No fitment issues, I...

Re: "Custom" Dual exhaust/Iron Trap Garage
That is a nice car. Must’ve been an interesting guy. He did all that stuff without damaging the car. The mechanic Steve put it well, “He did all the wrong things, the right way.”

Re: 1940 Fords paint
I’ve had some success with old single stage paint by rubbing in Meguiars #7. It doesn’t take any paint off, and restores oils back into the oxidized paint. This guy doesn’t recommend clay bar, just...

Re: 1940 Ford Rear Fender Brace
I’m also curious about this for when I put my pair of steel fenders on.
I’ve seen some that have a hole through the outside of the fender. Did some attach that way at the corner of the bottom and...

Re: 1937 Halogen headlight conversion
My experience exactly, meric42.
I don’t trust LED bulbs to last or have consistent quality. Too many have failed me of home and antique auto use. I also prefer the color of halogens/light bulbs...

Area for seller feedback?
