Well,

If you are interested, my starter is fine. My one month old battery was the problem. Even though the voltage read 6 volts on the multimeter, it had not the amps to turn over the starter.

I had a similar problem, I found that the long brass screen behind where the fuel line enters the (Zenith) carb was filthy with heaven knows what. Check that.

Starter question, I am stymied!

My starter seemed dead, I had it rebuilt......still seems bad.

Should I have continuity between the starter terminal and the ground? That just seems wrong to me.

My grandfather had an old ford that sat in a barn. I got*behind that wheel as a kid *in the 50's and drove around the world.*
Grandmother drove a '53 MG TD, played hot jazz piano and painted...
