Later axles all have vents. The rear axle creates heat/pressure as it operates. I would add a vent.

6 volt overdrive relay with 12 volts
Just a quick question.
I know a 12 volt Ford with overdrive must use a 12 volt solenoid because a 6 volt solenoid can't handle the higher voltage. How about the relay? Is anyone using a 6 volt...

They were an aftermarket accessory in the late forties and fifties. I have them on my 48 F-1 and my 48 Merc. convertible. I think they are cool. Just a big 74 year old kid!

I have a 48 Mercury with the original 239 cu. in. 59AB engine and oil pan). Does this engine have the "long body" or "short body" oil pump?
