1937 Ford Milage Log

Does anyone know if this milage log was a dealer or an aftermarket item? Backside is in woodgrain color. The backside has a slot that may hold business cards.

I was able to get part of the date code on the truck engine I brought home.
S 4 and the no other letter, after that a box with a 1 inside. I assume Oct. 10th would be correct, not knowing the year....

I want to thank everyone for the very thoughtful replies. When I saw that complete engine sitting in the corner, I made an offer to purchase the engine, knowing I was not letting it go to salvage....

I understand about the tread chaser, I have overhauled aluminum marine engines. Aluminum treads can be a challenge. I have never worked on these type of heads and am very concerned about the alloy.

Thanks Tubman, I was hoping you would respond. I will now make sure to chase all threaded holes and verify they pass. Also will measure chambers and level with a straight edge as advised.

I have been cleaning these and found some troubling areas in the valve chambers and transfer pockets.
They have some pitting and a few hard hit spots. I am unsure if I need to continue to clean...
