I have used straight STP in transmission/differential/steering box for the last 15-20 years.
Many miles and no problems.

Upon recommendation of the late Roger Kauffman (longtime MARC tech advisor), I have run straight STP in transmissions, differentials and steering boxes for 15-20 years with no problems.

just replacement of a worn out or damaged part (engine block) with another that matches it exactly (including number).....

matching number does not guarantee original engine.

I have re-stamped 2 replacement engines to match titles......

running well is most important, but engine # matching title is important too.

the number is just easier to correct than a poor runner.....

Do not panic.
before you worry about a rebuild,
check the main bearing clearances- too much on the rear lets oil out.
then you can get the new pan gasket instsalled.

still there, now occupied by Case Western Reserve University, I think.

When I had tube problems, it was almost always around the rubber stems.
Switched to stock type metal stems and have had very few tube problems since.....

When I got correct rear bumperettes for our Town Sedan, I had them re-plated by a local (Jacksonville FL) shop that was recommended.
Not cheap.
Later discovered re-plated originals were available...

I like having it but may move to floorboard to eliminate opening hood for turning on/off.....

if you want "economical" and "effective", stick with mechanicals.
cast iron drums are the only modification I'd recommend.
find someone who knows how or learn to restore the system correctly...
