Re: Source for gear shift knob threaded insert/reducer

First part I ever made on a lathe was an insert to put a larger thread shift knob onto a Hurst shifter…..

Re: dual master cylinder

I agree. My mistake was in the .886
Should have been 1.130 to arrive at 1 ci of volume and then the piston travel difference of about an 1/8" (0.14) between the two master cylinders would have...

Re: dual master cylinder

That is true..... hence my mention of "that extra 3/8" AND the pedal ratio.
Almost any re-designer of a brake system should be looking at total stroke
available for the pedal assembly and comparing...

Re: dual master cylinder

The movement increase is about 3/8" at the master when comparing the larger bore master of 1 1/16" and the greater amount of piston movement with the smaller bore master of 1 inch. (0.866" piston...

Re: 3049 Remflex exhaust manifold gasket set

The facts are that I'm posting to tell of my experience with the product and
my experience with remflex NOT getting back to me. That's pretty much the
situation.
Not a debate about whether I know...

Re: 3049 Remflex exhaust manifold gasket set

That's definitely not leaking there. Because I did it. Definitely not my first rodeo building an exhaust system from scratch.

Re: 3049 Remflex exhaust manifold gasket set

Well then, the rear left side port on the driver's side is going to leak forever...
Perfectly torqued initially. Leaked like a sieve. Didn't leak with that same cast iron manifold before the engine...

Re: 3049 Remflex exhaust manifold gasket set

They're factory cast iron exhaust manifolds. I'm re-doing the exhaust
from the manifolds to the back right now because the new mufflers I had weren't pleasing me and the tubing & routing was pretty...

Re: 3049 Remflex exhaust manifold gasket set

I doubt it’s that far off in thickness. Got the new ones stuck on their with high temp gasket sealant though…..

3049 Remflex exhaust manifold gasket set

Had them on the truck for about a year and a half. One of them was leaking and despite being torqued like all the others, it has pretty much completely failed. Sent an email to them but nothing....

Re: Violent shake.

I went through this chatter deal on the truck. Turned out to be a bunch of small things... all adding up.
-several items in the pedal linkage were worn out or ovalized
-engine mounts needed...

Re: Bumpsteer

Fatman............. run.
I was in the aftermarket suspension industry as a General Manager once upon a time.
Their stuff is horrible. And downright scary on some items.
That's all you need to know...

Re: Cast iron Fenton headers

I just made a pair of flanges out of the very last of some 5/16" flat plate I had left from another job. They're for 2" exhaust tubing. On the commercially available off the shelf flanges, they seem...

Re: Aluminum radiator 1950 Ford Custom

I'm definitely NOT an aluminum radiator aficionado.
Although not the truck, I had a stupidly expensive Fluidyne aluminum radiator in one of my Mustangs..... for about 2 weeks. I ended up going back...

Re: 8BA Truck Oil Pan Gasket for the cleanout

The only thing that fixed mine leaking was an engine rebuild.
Damned if I'm ever taking that cleanout nonsense apart while I own the truck.

Re: 8BA Truck Oil Pan Gasket for the cleanout

My personal opinion, but...... that clean out thing on the 8BA oil pan is the stupidest design ever. The next dumbest is that oil dipstick fitting on the side of the pan.
Both of those are...

Re: Stp.

Don’t use STP by itself in a Gemmel or a recirculating ball steering box.
You’d need to mix it with a grease.

I used to work as a General Manager at a speciality aftermarket suspension...

Re: Relocate the condenser

If it's away from the intense searing heat of the engine, it'll probably be more stable/last longer too. All electrical & electronic parts are that way.

Re: Cam Shaft Bearing Size:

The oversized cam bearings pop up on eBay from time to time. H&H had to put a set in my 239 when they did it last year.

Re: 41 front leaf spring bushings

I'm not surprised, most Nylon is much higher durometer than Delrin.

Re: 41 front leaf spring bushings

"Forever" - defined as until the Delrin cold-flows out of wherever
it's not encapsulated.

Encapsulated Delrin bushings w. aluminum housing.
We manufactured and sold these for many applications...

Re: A warning and a question about starter solenoids

Standard doesn't appear to have a diagram/schematic on SS-549. And their buyers guide says 12V as well for that listing, so I don't know on that one.

I am aware of a person who hit the starter on...
