Re: Why are there so many more 1930 grill shells than 1931s?

I was thinking the '28/'29 grill shells were the same......and the '30/'31 grill shells were the same.

I guess there is a visual or some other difference between the '30 and the '31 grill shells?

Re: t 5 tranmission

Are there any thoughts on whether the five speed T-5 transmission or the four speed Tremec/Ford T170 RTS as used in the mid eighties F-150 trucks is preferable?

Are there pros and cons to either...

Re: About oils

My 2019 Porsche Macan calls for 0w-20 oil in the USA and for 5w-30 oil in other markets.

I am thinking the manufacturers now are calling for oil grades to give them a slightly better CAFE...

Re: What are some of the counter intuitive things you have learned about a Model A?

Thanks, Brent....I am guessing "1/2-way advanced on the quadrant" is with the spark lever at about 9 o'clock.

And fully advanced is with the lever at about 8 o'clock.

Re: Who Lives near Roanoke, VA?

It was so sad to see the Doughton Park Lodge and restaurant on the Blue Ridge Parkway close some years back. One of the nicest places on earth.

Hopefully they will reopen sometime.

Re: Who Lives near Roanoke, VA?

I used to live in the commonwealth of vaginya.....but the personal property tax on automobiles and trucks, and cycles, and boats made me move outta state.

Love the Blue Ridge Parkway though :)

Re: Is this rumour correct?

I enjoy both magazines and look forward to them each month.

Would hate to see either organization go by the wayside.

Painting whitewalls black

My 1931 all black Tudor came to me with whitewall tires and almost white cream colored wheels. It also has dual fender mounted whitewall spares.

I am contemplating using tire black on the...

Re: Who designed the Model A engine ?

The torquey long stroke Model A Ford engine certainly gave it a feeling of low speed acceleration some of the more refined 6 cylinder cars didn't have.....IMHO.

Plus, I like the style of the...

Re: brake pedal return spring mounting

Gary, I would hope so but have not looked into that yet as was not aware that could be an underlying cause.
