Re: 1930 Deluxe 2dr Phaeton.
Are you truly speaking of the wooden bows or the top irons? I restore top irons but don't consider myself an expert on the bows. Jim (whose last name currently escapes me and is a furniture maker)...

Re: roadster doorand deck lid stuffing
Deck has a piece of felt-like material about 1/8"-3/16 thick; rather soft, not hard. Maybe 4x5" rectangle. I suppose it is a stiffner and the pad is anti-rattle. Most wonder why the inner liner of a...

Re: Making cotter pin hole in shackles
I have used a mill with a 1/8 center cutting mill bit before with no problem.
May need to use a carbide burr to get enough thread off to not make the bit wobble and break. Might try a little heat...

Re: 1931 Model A Ford P/U Cab Top Steel Roof Rails
Those look correct without having the exact lengths. there may be other models and other dimensions that are similar but I believe those to be the ones. If so, good find as they are hard to come by....

Anyone know if a lower inner patch is made for a roadster door?
I already know that brookville makes the complete inner liner;
I just need up about 2" and the bottom of the inner liner.
Thanks in...

Re: Body/fender steel
So when was a 2X4, 2x4? Long time ago! I have seen factory prints that spec 20 gauge also. However, I think thru the years, specs changed. One posted that it mic'd out a .037; well, current 20 gauge...

Re: 1930 Cabriolet estimate value
You can't really put a value on it without more info.
How much is right and how much is wrong? Looks like the top angles are way off. Are the top assembly and irons even correct? How much will have...

Re: can you unchop a top?
Can be done but experience needed. Not for a first timer and not something you would want to pay another to do. Will take forever even with experience. Unless you have lots of "free" time, move on....

Yep those that
"Don't know that they don't know" are a pain in the butt to convince
I've pretty much quit discussing things past the first back and forth!
And I never tell anyone they are wrong...

Re: Tom Wesenberg 15000 plus posts
Yes sir Tom!
Thanks for weighing in so much with good info
If folks would learn to use "search" he would only be at 147 posts!
He not only has knowledge but patience!!
Me, I lack both attributes!...

Re: shocks
Lots of folks leave shocks lubed (light grease) but dry on show cars so they don't show leakage.
Hope they don't leak when you fill them! But don't be surprised

One other, be sure if you get a stainless center rod that it mics to the original. Most stock stainless is not the same as original. Also note, the original hollow rod is less apt to sag than a solid...

Agreed mig is low on the list for this specific
However, mig is best for the inexperienced
A method that can be used with mig is to "slug" it
