Re: Dawsonville Moonshine Festival

I recommend the Georgia Apple Pie Moonshine from the Dawsonville Distillery. That one is my favorite:D

Re: Dawsonville Moonshine Festival

50% chance of rain on Saturday and 40% on Sunday in Dawsonville. That stinks.

I'll be there, but not planning to bring my '40 this year. Ran out of time to get it ready.

Re: Dawsonville Moonshine Festival

I hope to make it with my '40. But it seems every time I fix something another thing breaks... But even if my '40 does not make it I will be there.

Re: Locked up!

I've had several occasions here in the high humidity summer where a couple weeks passed without me driving my '53 and the rear shoes stick to the drum. Only happens when I leave the parking brake on...

Re: MOONSHINE Festival

Great news! Friend of mine just asked me a couple days ago if I had heard if it was happening this year or not.

Maybe my '40 will finally make it this year.

Re: Cleaning an early aluminum intake

I believe I cleaned the one I have with oven cleaner and a small soft wire bristle brush. Worked pretty well. Just took a lot of elbow grease.

Re: Wheels, would like opinions.

Wow, your '40 looks a lot like mine. I'm running black stock 16 inch wheels with standard caps and wide whites.

Re: New Poll, What Year Fords Do We Own?

Update. Traded the '63 f100 for a 1953 Customline Tudor Sedan. Not a shoebox technically, but I really like it so far.

Re: Where does your 53 Ford run?

That's about where my '53 sits fully warmed up.

But yeah, one of those cheap IR temp guns will give you piece of mind. That's how I figured out the gauge on my '40 was about 15 degrees off.

Re: catalog

Not as much support for '52-'54 as some other Ford year models. Mac's has a catalog that covers '53, but Barner's seem to have mixed luck with Mac's.

Personally I like to use Early Ford V-8...

Re: Reds Headers. Washers?

I did the same. Use a good grade washer and hi temp anti-seize. Check torque every 6 months or so.

Determining interior color from trim code

I'm trying to find what the original color of my dash and window trim was. It's mostly rust color now with undertones of an olive green. It's for a 1953 Customline. My codes on the VIN tag are:

Re: Electric Wiper motor (Vintique)

Mine may be Vintique, not sure. Do you have a pic of the unit or a link that shows it? I can snap some pics after work today.

Stock 15" wheels for a '53 Ford car 5 on 4.5

Looking to go back to stock steel wheels on my '53 Customline. I believe Ford used the same style 15 x 5 wheel from 49 to 56 on all passenger car models.

Re: I am hiding in my garage from my wife

Just stop shaving. I haven't shaved in 5 weeks. The bushy beard will distract her from the the haircut. Has worked for me so far.

Re: New Poll, What Year Fords Do We Own?

1940 Ford Tudor Sedan
1963 Ford F100 pickup

Would like to have a shoebox someday as well... But that needs to wait until I get my new shop built. Out of garage space.

Re: Wiring Dash and instrument cluster 1940

I installed my new dash harness with the dash and seat in place. I had what was left of my factory harness as a guide and used the wiring diagrams to verify. It really was not a lot of connections. I...

Re: '40 Disk/Drum brakes, no rear brake problem

I’m using a 7/8 disc/drum master from a Maverick. Wilwood adjustable proportioning valve. I did have to extend my pushrod about 1/4 to get full stroke. Are you sure you are getting full stroke on...
