Re: 1962 Galaxie radio speaker connector

I’d make up some jumpers (even with little brass tubing, wire and tape) and see if it works. Then I’d call the guys that restore the old radios and see if they’d sell that part. Likely they’ve got...

Re: 1957 Courier only right side headlight/running lights/plate light working

If the “blinkers” or turn signals work front and rear they’ve got a ground. In the back, the filament for the turn signal is the brake light also. Do either or both brake lights work in the back?

Re: 1957 Courier only right side headlight/running lights/plate light working

Only on the front lights? Or are the rear lights right side only too?

If the junction block on the 57 is similarly to the 55’s (picture looks pretty much the same) its power in from the sw...

Re: Sock replacement

If it’s like a Thunderbird, that’s how you pull the sender. A small hand and arm might get to the sock. But you’ll want it as close to empty as you can get, and be very careful. No metal tools,...

Re: Borg Warner overdrives

There was also the occasional R-11 that ended up behind a 4 speed top loader. There was a guy, Doug I think, that was an engineer who found a good machinist and stuck the whole works in a 55 bird. ...

Re: Edsel front sway bar

You might try the owners club. They would know and probably be a great resource. I knew on of the active members some years ago (a bright yellow wagon with a 390 tri power and a respected showing...

Borg Warner overdrives

Questions on overdrives come up here frequently. This article was linked on another site and I found it informative mainly on the uses and history of the BW units in general. I’m not sure it’s all...

Re: Crud in carb bowl

Yes, the engines with license plates have “proper” fuel hose. This is a gen set, and the 4” long hose has both a 90 and an offset. Gravity feed to boot. Can’t get the right stuff to make the...

Re: Crud in carb bowl

Even running them dry just delays the problem. The engine quits when the fuel levels drops below the jet, and what’s left is just less. I just took a small engine apart (wouldn’t idle) and found the...

Re: Trans cooler lines 67 Galaxie

Here’s a link to a discussion on Mac’s and the various changes. Not the first post regarding “problems”. Not an uncommon occurrence with family owned firms. Even profitable ones go down this tube...

Re: '55 Ford car headlight swtich

Wow. Were you a Chevy guy in a former life? With one longer and still won’t work installed there’s got to be something going on when you mount it. There can’t be that much paint. Any chance...

Re: Fan Shroud 1957-1959 Ford Big car

There’s a lot of fan shroud kits out there, most of which have dimensions. Some have the center opening cut, some are solid and you lay out and cut it. They don’t look very attractive, kind of...

Re: Fan Shroud 1957-1959 Ford Big car

Just for my general knowledge, did those cars come with shrouds, or as above only trucks and birds?

Abe, have you been having overheating problems?

For the record, I’m a big believer in well...

Re: New tires for my 67 Mustang convertible.

Couple years ago a friend put a set of white letters on his 56 Nomad. They drive well and look good. Now what’s the “period correct” letter style and brand is beyond my knowledge. But they came ...

Gene,

Here’s a couple to pick from. I’ve never done anything with unisteer, flaming river has a pretty good name. Mine is a cavalier rack, custom done, several modifications to get it all to...

I went looking for that topic, not knowing what Ford was using by 59. I’m somewhat surprised, but I found this. Larry is a pretty good source got early bird stuff, and has broadened their offerings...

Re: 1965 Mustang signal lights

If you have to get far into the wiring, this is the best diagram I ever found. I’m old, I bought the big one. Can also find on Amazon, but I didn’t compare pricing

Re: Electrical question-54 Mercury

I’ve never really thought about that. But I’m guessing the fuses are on the negative side. Like the lights, the switch is fed with the “hot” lead, in this case negative. It protects the wires...

Re: Fuel gas tank sender.

Start here. How your car was converted to 12 volts (voltage drop unit or 56 gauge and sender) may play into this, I’m not sure. But it’s a start.

Re: 59 352/4 carb

You want to see a real bog, take that combo and put with a manual secondary on it. Full throttle from a stop gets nothing. Learned that driving a tri power on my first y block. This assumes the...

Re: 57 T Bird Dual Master cylinder converson

Kultulz, how the hell did you find that post? It was so long ago I’d completely forgotten about it. The bird had the NZ valve covers with BC cast on the inside. They came off the bird and went on...
