Re: Calling Ol'Ron, calling Ol'Ron...
The method of getting the the right tappet clearance in a flathead is by grinding the dtem of the valve. na has nothing to do with the valve spring. The slight amount you'd remove would not change...

Re: Calling Ol'Ron, calling Ol'Ron...
George is right. Installed heigth at 45/50lbs for most street cams works quite well I use tgus in the L-100 and it'll turn 5k no problem. But it ain't made for that. It's made for cruising. Now if...

Re: Calling Ol'Ron, calling Ol'Ron...
I reality, I don't kow much about the early cars, other than the trans and reak axles can't stand up to much abuse. In the early street days the 404 Ols engine was king, and cheap, it did't take long...

Re: 266 versus 276 CI?
Guess the old memory is getting forgetful. The engone I built for Ron Horell was that 3/8 x 3/8 with an L-100 cam 9:1Cr and it is impressive in a 35 PU.

Re: 266 versus 276 CI?
Back in the day, 3 3/8 was a standard overbore for a hotrod. Along with the 4 1/8 crank, you had a 3/8 x 3/8 engine or 286ci

Re: Overdrive Transmission in a 1952 F1
I like the F130 3 speed with OD from the 80's trucks. They adapt easy to the flathead by boring the register and welding Tabs on the steel nell housing. Have one in my truck.

Re: 1932 Carburetor adaptor
One thing you have to remember is: The intake manifold is of the "log" design, which has poor low end drivability regardless what carb is bolted to it.

Re: headers vs duals
It would be a good time for some of the Newbys to buy JWL book "Flathead facte" this will save you agreat deal of money in the future. Hid Dyno tests showed no increase in power with either.

The oil filtering system is one of the best and I use it on all my builds. AS for the pistons, I don't think Offenhauser has made them for quite a few years and were once made by Janns. i also had a...

Re: Fresh rebuilt 8BA Flathead
I often wonder what scale people use to choose the parts they use in their engines. For example why did you choose the Offenhauser pistons and Isky 88 cam for this build. As expensive as it is, these...
