Searched all the local parts stores today, and did not find any GL4, only GL5, and also some full synthetic gear oil. I may have to use the GL1 80-90 mineral oil that I already have. need to hook up...

I am reinstalling the 3sp w/ o/d transmission in my '51 Merc. after rebuilding it. My question is how much gear oil does this transmission hold. My factory manual only shows capacities for a 3 sp ....

Jimnnn, I think that Prestone concentrate , if tested with a good tester, will show that it will be good to past -60*F. However, it is not recommended to use it straight without some water mixed...

Most anti-freeze is sold as a pre-mix 50-50. and is good to about -35*F. If you want more , or less freeze protection, you can buy straight non mixed antifreeze and mix it to your desired freeze...
