Re: Bone Stock or Modified?

I tend to read the posts that deal with solving specific problems or "How to" topics. These topics about originality, what kind of oil do you use, whether or not to use antifreeze, etc just seem to...

Re: Maybe starter problems?

The starter draws a lot of current. Even if you are measuring 6 volts at the starter at rest under no load, you might check your connections at both battery connections.

Re: 2 tooth adjustment

One just has to read and re-read the instructions until they finally make sense. Sometimes you will find that we need to also do it and re-do it until it comes together. Also, in the case of a 90...

Re: Heater to firewall

I have used the soda can method but it rattles a bit. Actually, it just joins in the chorus of other rattles.

I will have to try the BBQ silicone sheet method. Thanks.

Re: TDC Finder

I put a dab of red nail polish at the 12:00 position of the crank pulley when it was right at TDC. Now, when looking for TDC, I can see it coming and feel for it with the pin when it comes around...

Re: Fordwood

I bought an entire wood kit for my Tudor from Bert's in Denver. The kit came from Classic Wood Products and there was an issue with the front header piece which was made wrong. After some back and...

Re: Speedometer Calibration

I am wondering if the pivot point is dirty just at one spot in its travel near the low end.

Re: Adjusting ahooga horn

If your horn is wired as stock, the horn does not get its ground from the frame. (Probably the only electrical device in the Model A that doesn't).

There are two wires going to the horn. One...

Re: timing light

The timing light, of course, will work but I think they are more for a car that has a distributor that you can rotate from outside the distributor to set the timing. The Model A, on the other hand,...

Re: Re-setting oval speedometer

You have to disassemble the speedometer to do it. If you don't know your way around them, I would recommend contacting Mark at Mark's Speedometers in Polson, MT He will clean and lube it too. ...

Re: 6 volt group 1 battery

Many places still have them. I just recently bought one at Tractor Supply and it was made only a month before I bought it. Not bad!

Re: Smoking upon start up

Well, here's the deal. Manifold and or tail pipe won't cause or cure smoke. Smoke is caused in the engine and that is a big topic.

Re: Bert's number not working?

Steve, your number was in and out for me last week when I placed an order. Both the direct number and the 800 number. I tried back later and got through. It was also doing it last Monday when you...

Re: Brake Conversion? Or not.

You will spend more time and money screwing around with hydraulic brakes than you will if you properly refresh and adjust the mechanical brakes as they are designed. After all, if you can skid with...

Re: Adjustable Tappets

Once you get in there and start adjusting, you will quickly get a feel for not only the direction to adjust, but just how much (or how very little) you need to adjust to get the desired lash.

Re: Title goes with Frame or Engine?

My opinion - the title-able vehicle was parted out. The vehicle is just parts now and the vehicle no longer exists. I think you have to draw the line somewhere.

Re: speed error

In that case, other things affecting the indicated speed are:

Tire and wheel size
Speedometer gear at the back of the U-Joint
Rear end gear ratio

All these things are variable and work in...

Re: Wisdom of Stopping Engine by Choking It Out

Choking would not be good to stop the engine. If you're going to choke, then why not when starting?

Re: how many tie rod turns equates to 1/16 inch toe in change ?

I could never get a consistent reading with the curtain rod. I went and got a real measuring stick and now I do get consistency. So my take on the curtain rod is that it is probably close, but not...
