I have had the same results as Dick. the gasket that came with my filter was not the correct diameter and would not seal. I ended up re-using the old brittle one that's been in there for who knows...

I changed the oil today not sure what to expect. The oil that drained out of the oil pan actually looked ok. It was an odd color for sure and there was a bit of weird thick gunk that came out first....

Problem fixed. I cleaned out the inside of the canister lid and put the old gasket back in. No leak. It appears the gasket that was supplied with the filter was too small diameter.

Excess oil pressure?

I changed the oil today in my 39 truck. Previous owner did not have a filter in the housing. I added the correct filter, now U'm getting excess pressure and it is pushing oil out between the housing...

I can recall topping off the radiator a few weeks ago. It wasnt really low, just above the top of the fins. It has only been ran about 2 minutes since, but when I discovered this mess in the filter...

I have not noticed any misfires at all. It fires right up without issue. All the plugs looked the same too.

Pulled out the compression tester and here's the results:
1- 80 psi
2- 90 psi
3- 88 psi
4- 80 psi
5- 88 psi
6- 70 psi
7- 88 psi
8- 90 psi

Pulled the plugs, they all look the same. I shined a pen light into each plu hole while they were out and see no obvious issue. Time to dig out the ole compression tester...

You are correct. i pulled out the turkey baster to pull off the oil and sure enough, there is green coolant in there! UGH.... Now, off to start a new thread...

No metal ring or retainer in there. The piece a 2:00 is the port hole. This is nothing but the reflection of oil, and apparently coolant....

I have a can of brake lube, was bought and used for disc brak backing plates and glides but I assume it should work.
