The 1940 Ford convertible did not have a rumble seat. The rear lever action shocks mounted under the frame rail. You need a repair manual. These are nice cars.

According to my ford parts manual, the 91-99 carb is correct. Also, the '39 ford I have had stored since the late 60's has a 91-99 carb.

The solution is simple. Sent the pistons you want to use to the machine shop that you want to bore the block.
That way he can bore the block to fit the pistons. Saves a lot of headaches.
