Re: timing adjustment on exterior of distributor

The three bolt helmet type distributors, up is advance. The later two bolt ones (42-48) are opposite. Keep in mind the breaker plate is not precision machined and many times adjusting timing changes...

Re: 47 V8 ignition mystery

If you want the correct brown wires they all from all vendors come from the same source. I recently installed a set on a 48 I feel your pain as it’s not all that easy but even though the surface...

Re: My First Flathead! 35 Standard

You should send the coil to skip haney. Be certain you have 34-36 degrees of dwell in the distributor and replace the condenser. We sell original type condensers that last

Re: 47 V8 ignition mystery

The breaker plate terminals can give issues. We have to check them thoroughly during every rebuild. That usually only causes a random miss. You declined the recommendation of a full rebuild on your...

Re: Anyone know if a NOS remanufactured distributor is a bolt on

Others have guided you well, on old Reman distributors the weights always need diassembled, cam and shaft polished and cleaned due to the old dired up grease.

Re: What is this goop? Restored 1932 Victoria

In my opinion some of the hetland cars sold to those whom assumed a profit could be made. Remarkable cars but they haven’t kept up with inflation over the years. In my opinion only two cars at that...

Re: Early build Model 18, now with more info!

If the serial number is 18-and then six digits it is not a Early car. Very nice car however. 18-124 is the Lowest serial number I have ever seen.

Re: My First Flathead! 35 Standard

Thats a killer car. I see it's already had a 37 steering box installed. It should drive nicely once you get the bugs worked out

Re: Electronic distributor

If you put that distributor on there you won’t be pleased. Stick with points or get a stromberg e-fire. I won’t go away from points but if I had to the efire is the only one with a proper advance...

Re: 47 V8 ignition mystery

Old Henry glad you are up and running.

Your distributor had 42 degrees of dwell and a bad condenser, with either one of the two IÂ’m surprised it ran. Testing just the mfdÂ’s of a condenser is...

Re: Banjo rear end rebuild

As Mentioned we can do it here I am backlogged a bit right now. However if it's a Early 32 Rear it is identical internally to a Model A Rear. Maybe you have a reputable Model A Mechanic near you?...

Re: 47 V8 ignition mystery

If its a old Reman, the point contact plunger could be froze. Common issue. Also if you replaced the points and used anything except NEW standard FD6770 or Echlin CS47, plan to replace the points....

Re: 1941 Distributor ID

That’s a good point I forgot to mention he needs to run the 11a disc to get the 11a curve as well. The weights are identical though minus spring tension

Re: Anybody running a helmet distributor w/o vacuum?

I always recommend one turn of tension and not running vacuum. I have lines on my cars and have the lines pinched. The exception is if you get pinging like Lawrie has. On today’s fuels I’ve never had...

Re: 1941 Distributor ID

I'd bend the thicker spring outward slightly more and then you'll achieve a similar advance to the original 11A VBy Slightly I mean 1/16" inch or so.. DO NOT BEND THE INNER SPRING OUT!! Be sure the...

Re: 1941 Distributor ID

You can use the 68 weight on the 11a shaft and achieve the same advance curve by very slightly bending the stiffer thicker of the two springs outward.
