According to a 1956 Hot Rod Magazine on a basically stock engine , stock manifolds work well. I have this setup on my 40 since 1989. Probably nothing left inside the mufflers.

I had a friend who years ago put a chev engine in his 37 sedan. It it lasted as long as it took to push it backwards out of it garage and let out the clutch.

If you have a basically stock engine, stock cast iron manifolds work well with duals and glass packs. my 40 has this setup for over 30 years. just find a Good muffler shop to make your pipes.

Any way. What is the best way to check to see if your timing gear needs to be replaced.
Right now if you place your hand over the carburetor when cranking, there is no suction to be feltat all.

Slightly off topic.
I had trouble putting a wheel with a radial tire in the trunk. It was slightly (?) larger than the original. I removed the wood blocks behind the tire and now the radial fits...

Make sure the bulbs are a large enough draw to operate the flasher. I lost what was left of my hair trying to get the lights to flash
