Re: '28 Tudor: Wood blocks

I have about determined that when a body needs to be shimmed, it is because something else is wrong. It generally is because the frame is bent, -or the body blocks are the incorrect thickness...

Re: Steering arms

Bill, theoretically you are correct however I find many arms have been run loose where sometimes there may be some rotational movement between the Steering Arm and the Spindle. It probably does not...

Re: front fender well photo request.

Night & Day difference between a 1928/29 welled fender and a 1930 fender and far as ingress/egress.

I have some pictures that I can send however I am not going to be around my shop computer...

Re: Powder coating AA truck wheels

John, powder can be applied as thick, -or as thin as the applier wants. To be more authentic looking, try using the Cadmium colored paint from places like Eastwood. Then if you scratch the coating...

Re: Ron Kelley

Yeah Tom, I also learned on social media that RK had passed about a week or so ago due to Covid. While I did not always agree with some of his ideas, he definitely was known to be an innovator. I...

Re: Four Post Lift Recommendations….

Just to muddy up the waters a little, we are considering a single post lift that is portable where we can use it in many areas of the shop. Technology in the lift industry has really changed over...

Re: '28 Tudor: Wood blocks

My research counters this. Many of the drawing I have list the specifications just as I attached on the attached PDF file below. Now to clear, some anti-squeak items do mention cloth reinforced...

Re: Original color ignition cable

Black 16 gauge.

The Red was only used on the Ignition Switch down to the Coil. There are two different sizes on those but I don't remember the exact change-over date but I am thinking latter part...

Re: transmission

Yes.

The weaker the spring that holds the shift lever into the transmission top, the easier it is to do this.

Re: Rear window Q.

No.

Can one be fabricated? Likely. Just copy the DeLuxe 45B Coupe window. The biggest hurdle I would see is fabricating the window trim.

Re: Exhaust and Intake Manifold Decking

Bud, I am not sure I totally agree with that statement. I am unaware of an assembly drawing for the A-9425 Manifold and the A-9430 Manifold parts. The parts books do not reference this nor do I...

Re: '28 Tudor: Wood blocks

I have the dimensions, ...but what fun is it to give those dimensions for free instead of letting that person find those dimensions on factory drawings and then paying for the factory prints?...

Re: 30 tudor top wood question

I have never understood why some authors use words that are not of Ford's nomenclature as it can be very confusing when trying to locate something when folks of different areas use different words to...

Re: Cowl to firewall screws

Russ, that is to be riveted together with the head on the backside and a waffled peening on the forward side. It uses a 3/16" Truss-head rivet. The location of the hole is fairly critical to have...

Re: Exhaust and Intake Manifold Decking

To answer your first question, it does not matter if the manifolds have been mixed/matched. And, it doesn't even matter if the thickness' of the manifold flanges are of different measurements...

Re: 30 tudor top wood question

Yes, we cut our own wood. The typical species we use is Ash. I have not used any commercially available wood in awhile however you are likely correct in your assessment about it not fitting and...

Re: Exhaust and Intake Manifold Decking

Neil, unfortunately your comment is very misleading and IMHO is not an accurate statement. A set of blocks as you are suggesting do/will not work because you have nothing to reference off of unless...

Re: Steering Arm Balls

I had someone recently tell me that A&L were/is no longer doing them. Can anyone confirm this?

We have done them in-house however our length of set-time just makes us unprofitable.
