I am not pressurizing the system at less than 4 lbs. 4 lbs is the cap
ratting not the pressure in the system. Most water pumps slip and
churn air into the mixture. Air does not cool like water....

You need to let as MUCH coolant flow though the radiator as possible.
Why did you put on high flow pumps and want to slow the flow? You
need a pressure cap and a recovery bottle. As the engine...

New springs need to be tested and exter shims may be needed
to get the springs to the same pressure at normal spring height.

Years ago I posted on this site how to rebuild the
Hydrostatic sending unit. I have done 5 or 6 and
they all worked good. You have to be VERY careful
with the soldering that you don't plug...

You don't just stick .060 shims under warn weak
springs. There is a spring test machine that shows
the spring pressure at a set height. They should
all be close to the same pressure. G.M.

Loosen the drive wheel, remove contact tip and cut
wire off so 1/4'' sticks out the rear of the tip. Go to
your grinding wheel and grind about 1/16" off the
front of the tip where the wire is...

When I was a kid 75 years ago we swipped a fire xting and
squirted carbon teck in trough the trany inspection plate
and with the front bumper against a tree slipped the clutch.
That usually worked...

The 24 volt stator was suggested Chestnut Hill Electric Motor Co
so it would charge at idle with a small pulley. They have all the
parts in stock. located in Denver. Pa. G.M.

I have a 3:55 rear in of my 39 convertibles. Powered by one
of the brand new Canadian truck engines available over 40
years ago. Very seldom had to down shift for a hill. I ran it
from S W Florida...

If you don't mind the appearance this GM alt really
works great. You should have a 24 volt stator installed
so you can run the small stock pulley. With this it will
idle with the lights on and...

It won't start with 2.6 volts to the coil. It drops even lower
when the starter is running. A 6 volt Optima battery will
fit in you box. You need a minimum of 3.5 and max of 4.2
8 volt batteries...
