Re: I'm not a Model A person

Well I definitely understand your position as I have known others like yourself in a similar scenario. The likely issue is you purchased a car that you were told was Restored, however in reality, it...

Re: Gas Tank Cutaway Photos

Bob, tell me specifically what pictures you want and I can probably send you some.

The two halves were welded while submerged originally. We cut them thru the center of the factory weld.

Re: Getting Oil to the Overhead Conversion

If you have a measured 30 psi after the filter, you should have plenty of pressure to oil the rockers. The question(s) I would have is what kind of pressure do you have at the external line where it...

Re: Motor wheel hub cap

Without knowing your abilities or capabilities, that is difficult to answer but all I can share is what I would do if I were in your shoes. I would make them. I would pretend your wheels were the...

Re: Model A flywheel repair

The Gulbankian boyz are definitely an asset to the antique automotive hobby, and are known for quality work too. They are participants here too.

With the above said, I too repair cracks with the...

Re: Painting car

This is something that gets discussed often and many times the advice given is paint the smaller areas and then tape up that small area. My experiences are that it really does not matter. In the...

Re: New front spring

The bigger differences between most of these reproduction offerings is shape on each of the leaf ends, the shape of the top leaf where it installs into the crossmember, the tie-bolt shape, whether it...

Re: Wife is looking for '30's style dress

If your wife can sew (-or you have a seamstress locally), then patterns are available from MAFCA. Also, many times with the pattern number, you can find them online too.

Re: cowl band

Bill, Clark needs the early 30 with the extra length. I suggested he check with Steve Becker.

Yes, Doug was the master, ...and unfortunately, all his knowledge left this earth when he passed.

Re: Manifold Bolts

Nah, you're good. Re-check the torque after a few heat cycles and then enjoy the drive.

Re: Sub frame differences need clearity

The only thing about building a 150A/B body is you need to be good at metal fabrication too because of all the brackets used in a S/W body. Until we started restoring a couple of them, I did not...

Re: Napa Auto Parts

The list is a neat to have but I sure would hate to pay NAPA prices for some of that stuff, ...even with my discount with them. Spindle Bolts are around $90 from the Model-A vendors and $177 from...

Re: Andalusite Blue

I have the formula for Andalusite in PPG's DCC Concept line. We just sprayed a 40A body in it last week, so I know it is an accurate formula. With that said, if you are using a PPG Jobber, simply...

Re: Sub frame differences need clearity

In a nutshell, ...the A-76030-AR & A-76031-AR body side sills for the 76A Open Cab Pick-up, and the A-45030 & A-45031 Body Side Sills for the 45A, 49A, 50A and 54A Coupe are really as different as...

Re: Landaue Set

For us, it is the issue of time. With 21st Century technology, it has opened a door for many projects that would have never been tackled before.

Re: What sealant to use on rear main bearing cap bolts and shims?

Yes, we do not use anything.

If the block and the caps were machined properly during rebuilding, they will easily compress the shims to seal un-pressurized oil from escaping.

Re: cowl band

Reproduction cowl bands do NOT fit worth a flip. If you are going to use one, you must do the fit-work prior to painting. Because of this, we are restoring original cowl bands which is very...

Re: Model B Carburator

Bolting a Model-B carburetor onto a Model-A manifold gains little because of the draw-tube restriction of the manifold. A Model-A manifold has a 1.000" draw tube opening whereas the Model-B intake...

Re: Landaue Set

Ronn, definitely not overpriced. The likely issue why these have not sold is because most people lack the skillset to be able to make repair that would be undetectable. In comparison, I have a...

Re: Rear main bearing cap oil return line question

My opinion on this is the welch plug needs to be removed and that area fully cleaned using a bore brush and flushed.

Next, forget about a Vee-notch in the tube and install it the correct way. ...
