I was told it was from water freezing and pushing them out but I guess as long as the new seals work then they’re good ?

Well it turns out that that transmission is a 49-50 car transmission, it’s exactly the same as mine and the numbers are the same, my transmission also has the c8 number on it, got it in yesterday and...

They’re closing nice and tight, gap is good at the latches but the bottoms are pushed out so even when I put the new door seals on I’m pretty sure they’re still going to leak

The bottoms of my doors are pushed out on my car, in the manual they show a big vice thatís supposed to bend them back, has anyone recreated this tool or have a trick for fixing them?

Yep, all original and works great, sometimes after I kick it down out of overdrive it doesnít re-engage and I have to hit the lockdown switch again

Absolutely, I drove it all the time in the spring and summer, went to a drive in movie and got lots of attention

Definitely, they all have their own story to tell, the back window was replaced at one point and the fuse for the brake lights was missing.... might have been in a chase at one point

Hereís the 50 fordor Iíve been working on, It came from a farm in Saskatchewan and the plates that were on it are from 64í, odometer stopped at 25000miles, I donít think it could have rolled over...

You mean the first and second gear ratios are different or the construction? Iím going to try and pull my trans and compare it to this other one(either way mine has to come out)

I haven’t had a chance to look at it in person but now that you mention it does look like it has the boss for the clutch linkage.... did they use the same side cover on newer transmissions?

So if I can swap the side cover From the 50 trans to this newer transmission It should work? It looks like rear mount is in the same place and if the bolt pattern for the bell housing is the same

The mounts are different though aren’t they? And what about the bolt pattern to mate to the bell housing?

Ok that helps a lot, is there a good place to get parts for these transmissions? Last I checked on shoebox they only had seals and the overdrive electronics

Hey guys, Iíve got a 1950 custom deluxe with the 3 speed with OD, itís worn out and today it got jammed in second gear(seems to be internal), anyway thereís a guy whoís selling a rebuilt overdrive...
