I've had a similar problem. Turned out the diaphram was dickered. Rebuilt the horn, was cheap and easy to do and sounds great.

If you are talking damage/wear from the inner race spinning on the spindle any good machine shop should be able to spray weld and machine back to spec. Lots of people dimple the spindle and locktite...

Im in the midst of putting back my Tudor with new splash aprons, fenders and running boards and ran a die grinder with beartex pads over the undersides of all of them and then rocker guarded them...

Doesn't 600W in the transmission aid in shifting as it slows the gears enough to shift. Too thin of oil and your grinding gears. Correct me if I'm wrong though
