You could build up a little brass on the end of the shaft to take up for wear on the head to eliminate the end play or add a little set collar. My old pump had the set collar on it so I re-used it...

Following, eventually building (recreating) a basket case AA huckster. Bright wood looks great but I’m wondering if paint would be more correct and maybe more durable on a huckster?

Mix acetone and automatic transmission fluid about 1/2 and 1/2 and put in a pump oil can. Mix as needed as acetone tends to evaporate. Much better penetrant than the letter/number brand and cheaper....

Its a gear pump, almost bulletproof. If it is turning it is working. All it does is deliver oil to the valve gallery. Everything is gravity fed from there.

GRutter has got it. You will need to pull generator apart and replace or re-install that inside #20 retainer. My rebuild kit came with external split rings but I thought the original c clips fit...
