My self adjusters are installed on a '51 Merc on which the brakes are virtually identical to F100 brakes.

Re: Disc Brakes V Bendix Brakes-Which performs best??

The rear Bendix drum brakes also self adjust, so in that factor they are equal.

Re: Disc Brakes V Bendix Brakes-Which performs best??

Don,t remember but it was equivalent to this one on EBAY (but for Mercury).

You would also have to acquire a disc/drum master and booster (if wanted)
Also residual valve/s and proportioning...

Re: Disc Brakes V Bendix Brakes-Which performs best??

Did a front disc conversion on my '51 Merc. over 15 years ago.
The '49-'51 Merc. brakes are virtually identical to pickup brakes.
This is just a peek at what is involved in just installing the...

Re: Speed bleeders for 1949 F1

If you have access to the fluid chamber thru the hole left after the hex bolt/plug is removed you can fill it thru there, you do not have to remove the squared cap/cover.

Re: Flat spot that just won't go away

Have you checked the rich/lean settings on the accelerator pump?
When the symptom presents itself try partially operating the choke too see if there is an improvement.

Re: Speed bleeders for 1949 F1

The only "speed bleeder" I am familiar with are 'Speed bleeders' which replace the (4) bleeders with a new design bleeder that allows one person to bleed the brakes using the pedal.
They work great.

Don't have a trunk lock any more but as I recall, turn the key counter clockwise then remove it. (and if that doesn't work turn the key clockwise then remove it)

Re: fender welting, when did ford stop using it?? Stan

Can't say that factory welting was always black but know for a fact that many were painted body color when the car was repainted.
Also personalized a few by installing stainless steel welting.

Re: Front doors won't open far enough and won't stay open on my 51 merc

Pay attention to the gap between the fender and the front of the door moulding when fully open.
It should be as shown and if too close it could lead to denting the moulding on the door if the door...

Re: 40-2454 Pedal Pad Evolution

Suspect that if Henry had 'Locktite' available he would not have wasted the money on installing spanner wrench holes and adding a lock washer or making the stud longer.
