Thanks Brian.. soaked them in the sink with hot water for 3hrs while I went shopping.

All expanded and back to full size.. can't say the same for other things though ha ha.

Hi Desoto.. the 2nd hand expander is off a +40thou piston. The new pistons are +80thou that is a difference of 40thou or 1mm in metric speak. The height seems right. I'm don't want the engine to chew...

V8 exhaust cross over ports

Hi All,
I'm curious about those exhaust cross over ports in the intake maniforld.
What would happen if i blanked them off?
Would the engine run hotter?
Would it effect the fuel mixture?

Thanks guys.. I've decided to not file the notches.. I'm sure the thrust face will get oil as suggested. Now to continue with the assembly.

Valve seat inserts.

Hi all.. would any happen to know the size of the valve seat inserts in a c59a block. Some of mine are looking very wide after regrinding.

Some more info.. I drew these to scale and photo copied them to actual size(100%) then I cut them out. Then you can glue them to your pieces of wood and band saw cut the shapes.

Angry Cracked C59A block... any repair ideas?

Hi All.. I've found a small fine crack between the intake port and the bore on number 8 cylinder. Could I solder(very soft) or brass or tig with a high nickel rod? Would I have to fillet the crack?...

I've just acquired a relieved motor. was told it was from a Brengun carrier. It's not the type of thing I would do to an engine myself.

This is the second one to have passed through my hands....

Hi.. I would say you have a burnt exhaust valve on number 2 cylinder. The engine will make a 'Fluffing' sound out the tail pipe.
