Re: Coil or condenser over heat
i tried one of the heat shields and wasn't that much impressed . Needing to loosen two head nuts to install the shield didn't seem to be the best idea . Loosening head nuts runs the risk of losing...

With a three OHM coil the ignition will also operate on 12 volt . If a resistor and six volt coil are used , the ignition will be running on a weaker six volts and won't run as well .

Re: Generator question
Shims are offered to remove end play in the armature shaft , I think that Bratton offers them . I used them when I overhauled my generators and starters .

Just to add , I use the original style 20 amp ammeter with the 12 volt conversion on my model A and have for many years with no problem .

Converting to twelve volts is a VERY SIMPLE procedure . I allow mine to remain positive ground and no wires need to be changed or swapped . The original style wiring system uses large gauge wire...

I mount the condenser on the switch side of the coil on some of my model A's . This will be the side of the coil that uses the red wire if the wiring is original style . This isn't necessarily more...

I mostly use modifications that don't show or stand out as modifications . I run a stock appearing higher compression head that gives more power for hills . I seldom drive the model A over 50 mph ....

I used bondo and it filled the cracks and gaps nicely .. After a fairly short time it became obvious that cracks had been repaired .

I avoid heavy paint build up on the radiator . Paint will insulate . I try to just barely cover the radiator with semi gloss black paint . Type or shade of black is a matter of choice , I guess .
