Re: 1961 Fords - Where have they all gone?

I don't think I ever threw mine up here. 292 w/ column shift BW/Ford LD.

Backstory is I met a sister on Ancestry and went up to visit her in MD. This was tarped, sitting on her farm - but had...

Re: Ford FE timing chain questions

Yes they were. Turns out what i thought was also a parts store branded one was another cloyes. The new parts plague is effecting every manufacturer. I'll be telling their service guy's about all of...

Re: Ford FE timing chain questions

Full update: I just did some back and forth testing, and the new chain has the usual 5 degree's or so of slop. Way less than the last new one i put in. I did some back to back testing, and from my...

Re: Ford FE timing chain questions

Quick update. I got my new chain from the store and first impressions are good. It has less slop. I'll semi-reassemble the setup with both so i can get some quantifiable results.

Re: Ford FE timing chain questions

It's either i got a bum chain out of the box, or that this engine was line bored.

Re: Ford FE timing chain questions

Sorry for the late reply. It's just a bog standard stock chain out of a low pro 390 in a 1969 ford XL. The chain i know is not a double roller.

The chain i took out had a pretty aggressive amount...

Re: Ford FE timing chain questions

My replacement set i put in was a full steel set.

When you buy an undersized timing set, do they oversize the gears or the chain? I still have the original set i pulled off this engine and the...

Re: Ford FE timing chain questions

When i installed the new stock timing set, i did put it in as a complete set. I was remarking that the set i pulled off this engine that may need an undersized timing set still had the factory nylon...

Re: Can you id this ford.

Carb has me stumped. Looks like 2100 except the front bowl seems huge. I'll have my son look at it.

edit: Was looking at the bowl wrong. I was seeing the front of the carb and thinking it was the...

Re: Can you id this ford.

Ha. I feel you. I somehow wound up being the keeper of pics. I'm also the youngest of the cousins & born late to my parents - also have boxes of unidentifiable people.

Recommend a slip yoke shop

My 1961 Sunliner has an oddball transmission (https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=304725) and I need a new slip yoke. It's a 292 w/ a LD 3 speed so no need for hi-pro.

I've carefully...

Re: Which clutch for 61 Galaxie 292 t86 no OD

I appreciate that. I have the where; I just need the what.

I nosed around to see what they'd suggest. Their search seems broken but navigating around led to one or two close-ish Fords. They list...

Which clutch for 61 Galaxie 292 t86 no OD

I have a 1961 Sunliner with a 292 y-block, T86 no overdrive. All stock.

Do you know which sized clutch this thing most likely to have?

Which throw out bearing for 1961 Galaxie T85

This is for a 1961 Galaxie Sunliner 292 w/ T-85; I assume it's a std duty clutch. I believe the clutch has low miles. We're getting some squeak from the clutch area that goes away when the clutch...

Re: Brake lights swapping when signaling - 61 Galaxie

I can't find a replacement under $200 so going to see if we can fix ours. My son does a lot of microsoldering. If it's fixable, he could probably do it.

Okay. I was wondering about that. The part description on a diff site (http://www.earlyfordstore.com/product_info.php/manufacturers_id/13/products_id/7844?osCsid=1aa802e67ecbb5bc51bcc8d131cc352d)...

Re: Brake lights swapping when signaling - 61 Galaxie

I think there's a misunderstanding. I'll restate.

The brake brake pedal is depressed for everything below

With turn signals off: The left brake light is dark & the right brake light is on.
