Mitchell makes an excellent pinion puller. They also make an excellent rear hub puller. I have both of them.

I was wondering if a spring spreader would work. I have the F150 OD transmission and the "stock" frame spreader doesn't work very well. But I do have a spring spreader, I'll have to try that next...

When I got my engine from my engine builder, he used no gasket -- just permatex gasket maker. Not just the pan, but several other places as well.
