Re: New Radiator Opinions

At about 7:20, was he soldering over a hole?

At the end, when he was soldering on bracket, he used the big iron. Would the torch have unsoldered the tank?

Re: Replace rear motor mounts

It is a toss up. When I reinstalled my engine in 2020, I didn’t need a spreader.

Re: high conpression head ??

I like my 6:1 Snyder’s head, but now that the Burtz head is available, I’d strongly consider it. Be aware that you will want to limit your spark advance.

Re: Safety cage?

A real roll cage like race cars have would be a very extensive modification. I rely on the experience of 60 years of driving and 54 years of motorcycle riding to avoid accidents. Riding in a 2024...

Re: Wheel stud replacement

When I replaced a stud, it did require a push on the press.

Re: Wheel stud replacement

I don’t see how a light touch with a hole saw to cut away the swaging ruins the hub. Done right, none of the hub or drum is touched.

Re: Coal delivery

My first house, a 1913 bungalow in Des Plaines, IL, had evidence of a coal room in the basement and a big grate in the main floor for gravity flow. The gas fired central heating furnace that it had...

Re: Rotor position at TDC

I’ve done the same, but my pulley flange is too narrow for a mark, so I filed a small notch.

Re: Left Lights On By Mistake

I am in the habit of flipping the battery cutoff switch in front of the seat to off when I park. It covers up my possible multitude of sins.

Re: Rotor position at TDC

I have left the pin there too many times, but luckily it fell to under the radiator, so I painted it gold to try to remember to screw it where it belongs.

Re: Fantastic picyure

45s had the chain guard on the right, this one looks on the left, maybe a 80 cu in UL or an earlier VL?

Re: List of Reproduction "A" Parts That Don't Work

I have assumed that Ford had jigs and some sort of mechanized rotary cutters. The WW2 videos of copy lathes making M1 stocks comes to mind, although A parts wouldn’t be on a lathe. As a woodworker,...

Re: Distributor Locking Screw, HELP!

I’m no welder, so a steel nut to cast iron seems exotic. One of these requires .5” of metal, is there enough? https://www.mcmaster.com/94165A255/

Re: Voltage regulator

6V is used in those calcs, I’ve always read that the system runs more at 7.2V or so. Does that affect the maximum amps you want to see?

Re: Skills Necessary To Own & Operate A Model "A"

A friend with an electric Mustang was talking about recent self-driving car accidents and I told that I am still back at manual spark advance.
