Re: Early 28 Engine

It has the plate on the bottom of the pan, so you can remove the oil pump. The newer pans don’t have that feature.

Re: Wrong Gear Oil?

I use Texaco Meropa 680. It comes in 5 gallon buckets and I bought it from one of the oil suppliers in Des Moines when I lived in Iowa.

Re: Four Post Lift Recommendations….

The lifting capacity is 6,000 lbs, so I don’t think that’s enough to lift 3/4 ton or 1 ton diesel crew cab 4x4’s like most guys are buying. It does look handy for cars and light duty trucks.

Re: A few timing gear questions

I just checked an extra crankshaft I have. It has a mark on 2 teeth that are side by side, one each side of the key way. The marked tooth to the right of my key way also has a “0” marked on the front...

I think that could happen with either style lift.

Re: Four Post Lift Recommendations….

Have you had this happen? I have had 7 of the 4 post lifts with the crossbars inside the posts. I’ve not seen any indication of a problem and none have been anchored down.

Might be a good idea to check the lifter adjustment.

Re: selling my 1930

Certified bank check and not release the vehicle until your bank confirms that it’s cleared. Some guys will say wire transfer, but I don’t like giving out my bank account number.

1928 North Dakota License Plate

I am looking for a 1928 North Dakota license plate. Preferably a Truck plate. I do have a nice 1928 Illinois plate that I would trade.

No, just take a little oil out of the pan.

Re: rear main , old topic but here we go.

Set the oil level just above the add mark and see if that helps. Sometimes they have a little to high of an oil level.

Re: Any Model A Mechanics in Nebraska?

You can join the Cornhusker club for $24 per year. I would suggest joining and attending a couple meetings. You’ll have better luck in person and you are pretty close to Lincoln.
