I just unscrew the 2 bolts until they are out of block and leave them in the starter.. Helps keep things together. The bolts hold the starter to the block and also hold the starter together.

The body flexes normally. You need to adjust or modify the latches so they engage more than the flexing. They will stay closed then. As mentioned rebuild all parts to original quality.

If you heat around the the pinion case,it often makes it come out easier.
Just hear from a propanes torch. This makes it easier to put together also.

Either brake system is going to take time instal. I would spend the time on hydraulic myself if the rear brakes are done well.

Th rubber ball deteriorates from oil in Model A. Works fine in V8 since there is no oil.
Probably change it often as they tend to soften and crumble.

Bud ,I think the tappets are continually oiled from the oil pump. It pumps oil out into the valve chamber , out the side drain pipe and to the timing cover.
