Re: 1940/41 truck hoods
Did all the 41s have the different hood latching mechanism, or just those with a 6 cyl? They really stretched the design to accommodate the 6 and made it very weak structurally. I had a 41 6 cyl for...

Re: 40 ford master cylinder
Thanks, Terry. I was beginning to think the vinyl washer went in first. The metal-looking washer is actually fiber in this kit.

Re: 40 ford master cylinder
Yes, I know that logic. I’m sure the cheap imports work, but this one is US made and in good rebuildable condition. I guess if I bought a new one, I could pull it apart to answer this simple question.

Re: 40 ford master cylinder
I must be dense, because I'm still having trouble reconciling the rebuild parts in the kit with the diagrams. I don't see a "rubber appearing washer with hex shaped hole". The documentation mentions...

Re: Northern Classic Trucks closing?
Darn,
I have finally gotten my '41 project to the point where I need a bed. Was thinking - Christmas present. I have known others like Tod that get involved in the hobby and they no longer have time...

WTB '40 Standard/Pickup Grill Center
I need the chrome center grill section of a '40 Standard/Pickup or '41 Pickup. Drake reproduces the whole grill, but will not sell center separately. Doesn't have to be pristine, but should be...

Re: 40/41 Pickup Fender & Interior Question
Thanks for the responses. I have read the alignment posts - the reason for my concern. I enclosed the photo of the center brace mount in case it needs something else in there. It seems that even with...

40/41 Pickup Fender & Interior Question
I have two pickup projects I'm working on. One is a restoration and the other is the patina truck. We mocked up the restoration before painting and are questioning the fit of the front fenders. It...

Re: Patch panels
I used rear corners from NCT on my 41. I had to cut away most of the inner flange to mount it on the frame. Doesn't show and better than making my own, but they should fix them. Glad I did a test fit.

Re: Flathead year matching vehicle year Q?
Shouldn't the "correct" head be a "T" head rather than an "A" head. That is what was on my 1940 half ton. I have built an "A" motor for it bored out to 1/8" over. Will use the "T" heads. It should...

Re: Ford Dynamometer
I think an atmospheric correction of 20% would be extreme, e.g. very high altitude. I only see differences of a few percent at 800 ft elevation (Oklahoma). One of the tricks companies used to play...

Re: Ardun OHV Conversion
Another thing I should mention is an overhead valve conversion was not a new idea. The were many different OHV conversions for the Model T starting before 1920. Frontenac (Chevrolet Bros.) was...

Re: Ardun OHV Conversion
Part of the connection was due to Duntov's close relationship with Sydney Allard. Duntov drove Allards at LeMans and they were one of his best customers. Britain imposed import restrictions during...

Re: '40 Ford Doorstop
What looks strange to me is why the hole is so large when only a thin metal piece needs to slide through. Surely, whatever was there was to help prevent the metal from being mangled. No one has seen...

Re: Generator conversion to 12V Polarity?
I was getting nothing out of that first armature, so I changed it. Then I ran it as a motor and it rotated the same as in engine. I then spun it with an electric motor (same direction as in car)...

Generator conversion to 12V Polarity?
I've tried to check the archives. There is a lot of discussion on this subject, but I haven't found an answer to my question. I'm going with 12v on my '41 pickup project. I have purchased the 12v...
