Re: Fuel tank spark arrestor

The arrestors don’t always simply drop in thus the instructions they come with to bend the float rod to one side so the gas gauge doesn’t hang up on it. On my pickup “drop in” worked. On the Coupe...

Re: Engine Stalls at Stop Signs

When everything else has been checked and is good and it still stalls, clean the idle jet.

Re: Why Grease should not be used in a Steering Gearbox

To muddy the waters a bit more; what about using STP or a mix of 600 in the steering box? This from a discussion over on the Flathead site.

Re: The vaunted rumble seat...

Well, I like my RS and have been pleasantly how much luggage I can store on the floorboard! When we drove out to Gilmore I did add a turn into haul parts back.

Re: Cold start

Follow the recommendation for lighter engine oil, make sure it is well tuned up with a good, fully charged battery and an old six volt system will start. I’ve done so for fifty years as low as -20....

Re: Dispatch Pocket Wood

Thanks! That is what I remembered too but Affordable has blocks on-sale for all years.

Dispatch Pocket Wood

Do the ‘30-31 pickup dispatch pockets require wood blocks or was this required only for ‘28-29’s?

Re: Intake Manifold Weep

Thanks all for the input! I’m not yet certain but I think it may be a very slight leak at the bottom of the right hand upper coolant hose. It is hard to see at the back of the hose but I was able to...

Intake Manifold Weep

I notice a minor coolant leak around the back half of the intake manifold on the passenger side. I torqued the bolts down, cleaned and dried the area but still have weeping. Is my assumption correct...

Re: SMS Upholstery order

I canceled my order with Cartouch’ after four months with no end in sight. The prediction from Classtique was 5-7 weeks with the qualifier that it will likely be earlier. So far it’s too early go...

Re: front fender brace straightening

Yes, what John said. And then it is still a challenge! I wouldn’t know how perfectly these things fit originally at the factory but my guess is the tolerances where wide. I still get tickled when I...

Re: Manifold Heater Mount

It requires a heater mangold for it to fit over. Then the two bolts pass through the heater and screw into the manifold. The heater manifold I had was taller, more square and fluted than the standard...

Re: Rumble Seat Hinges part 2

Oh ya! It’s been a few years but I think I remember that challenge. As I recall I fished them in with something. It may have been a boxed end wrench with tape on the bottom to hold the nut in. Keep...

Re: new to the model a/forum

That’s a pretty straight ‘ol Pickup! Being 6’2” and a wee bit more than 230 lbs I was struggling to figure out how I would ever drive my ‘30 when it was done. I’d shortened the clutch and break...

Re: headers vs duals

No problem using the original manifolds and clearing the steering box. Only a matter of a good pipe bender.

Re: 30-31 cab questions

I reread your post. I don’t think anyone produced the upper part of the cab, only the portion below the molding. My upper portion was quite beat up and took multiple hours to smooth it out. If yours...

Re: 30-31 cab questions

Howel’s used to produce this part. When I restored my ‘30 CCP cab a little over a year ago all they had were ‘28-29. I found one on EBay which was the only one available. When it arrived it had been...
