I made new keepers from the wire of a coat hangar. The u-joint with my homemade keepers is in my Victoria and that joint has been to 70 MPH once.

1934 Plymouth would have been my best choice. Worst choices would be any cars with a body by Fisher, a car with knee-action front suspension, and any car with a vacuum shifted transmission.

Leave the front axle on the car. Take the spindles off so you can replace and ream the bushings on a work bench. Be sure to chock the wheels and support the car with stands.

J Franklin, the motor that did 80 MPH now has over 50,000 miles on it, and it is still strong runner. Model "A' and especially Model "B" motors are tough to destroy.

The screws are flat & slotted head wood screws, #12 and 1" long. I broke the heads off trying to remove the original screws, so I moved the screw locations a bit with a patch panel.

I had this setup on my Coupe, and it easily cruised at 60 - 65 MPH. I had it up to 80 MPH and it was still pulling, but unbalanced wheels gave it the shakes so I went no faster. Gas mileage improved...
