Someone tried to steal my moto-meter, and broke the neck on my nearly new radiator. $500 bucks shot. I have a new radiator, and a gauge now... I sure miss my moto-meter though.

Some people I talk to say going to the S-10 5-speed doesn't pick up that much, and it's whole lotta work. So how much MPH do ya pick up?

Likely causes. 1) starter is overamping. I have seen this many times in cars from the 60s, and 70s. 2) the battery sulfated? - not likely 3) try backing the cable that goes into the distributor...

It could be that the sleve / bushing in there is rotated around blocking the passage. I think I have one that is doing that. Sometimes I can get grease into it, sometimes not.

Mine is Newport also, bought through Concourse. I love mine. Except the switch acts kind funky. Best insurance against rain I guess because since installing it I have never needed the wipers.
