A shorter belt is all it took. 41” belt provided the clearance I was looking for. However the shop I got belt from only had it in a 1/2” width. I hope this won’t present a different issue.

MY first thought was it was not used for hauling items behind the truck but used on a drilling site to move pipe by hand, slightly different design but really I dont know.
