Re: Does anyone have these clips?

I was able to get new door trim clips at my local NAPA store. (Much like the ones in your pics). They showed me quite a variety in their catalogue.

Re: Part Identification

My guess is exterior door trim. Closed beveled end facing forward, (so trim does not hit body when opening door), open end fits over tab of door handle. Not sure what year.

Re: What kind of parts are these??

The photo with the single piece looks like a part used to hold the headliner in place. The semicircular notch on the top of the piece is to skirt the bow that goes across the roof.

Re: Mystery noise video?

Mystery noise solved. My engine is a 1949 Merc and has a separate starter plate. The plate had come loose or warped according to my mechanic causing the flywheel to hit an edge of the plate when the...

Re: Mystery noise video?

Every thing had been working properly until Thursday. No problems with clutching or shifting, no suspect noises. As I said, I have only put about 200 miles on it since the rebuild. When I last parked...

Re: Mystery noise video?

I did try to look at the pressure plate fingers. I know they're impossible to depress toward the clutch by hand but I did notice that there was a small amount of wiggle side to side, with one of them...

Re: Mystery noise video?

A local trusted mechanic removed the engine, tranny and rear end. Engine was sent to a reputable rebuilder. I am not sure who re-installed the clutch /pressure plate, my guess is the it was the...

Re: Mystery noise video?

The engine is 1949 Mercury rebuilt last November, tranny is 1948 (also rebuilt) so yes it is a fresh assembly. I had been driving for about 45 minutes with no noise. Parked in the garage for two days...

Mystery noise video?

Looking through inspection opening of bell housing. Noise starts as soon as clutch pedal is depressed. Does it sound like bad throw out bearing?

Could it be throw out bearing?

My 48 Merc is acting up. Went for a good two hour drive on Thursday with no issues. Went to start it today and heard an awful noise. Sounded like intermittent metal on metal ticking. Noise starts as...

Side cover selector shaft seals

I need to replace the selector shaft seals on my 1951 Mercury tranny. I have read that the retaining pins will need to be drilled out in order to get the shifter arms off. Does anyone have experience...

Re: Draglink zerk problem

Draglink is original. I guess that trying to remove internal grud is best done mechanically like the roto rooter suggestion. I have read that adding anything other than grease to the joint may be a...
