Re: Misfireing at idle.

The quickest way to test for a cracked dist. cap is to fog the inside of the cap with WD-40. If the roughness goes away, replace the cap. Otherwise, do as Bubba says and replace the...

Re: 49 Custom wheels

USA-built '49 fords came with 16" wheels and 6.00 x 16" tires on the base model. I believe the wheels are 4" wide. The Deluxe model came with 15" wheels and 6.50 or 6.70 x 15" tires.......Bob L

Re: Steering box adjustment 1950 Ford Coupe

For about twenty-some bucks, you can buy a reproduction factory service manual; it lays out the adjustment procedure in detail - good insurance compared to the rebuild cost. You may also need a set...

Re: Correct 1949 Gas Cap for Shoebox

You don't need that chrome piece - it is just a scratch guard for the body when refueling, an aftermarket accessory.......Bob L

Re: Wring crimping tool?

The problem with soldering is "wicking" of the solder up between the individual strands. This causes stiffening of the wire and, subsequently, an interface between stiff and flexible where the...

Re: Flat 6 just developed a good knock

I'm in agreement with Capt. Kirk that a rod bearing is loudest when decelerating, while a main bearing makes most noise during acceleration.........Bob L
