Re: Old Ford Truck Pictures

My family and yours crossed paths in that area at that time. Attached is a picture of my 1936 Ford 1.5 ton farm truck, which I restored as a tribute to my dad and grandpa. It is a parade truck for...

Re: A forgotten in plain site 1936 Model 51

Attached is a picture of an owners manual I found useful while restoring my 36 1.5 ton. It is available from several online sources.

Re: Restored 1936 Ford Truck

I agree that the headlight switch is 90 degrees off. If that is the only thing we can find, I would say it is one heck of a restoration. What is the nob next to the gas pedal? Maybe a power take...

Re: 36 ford seagrave fire truck

The stock setup for your truck is a combination oil pressure/fuel on one side and temperature/amp on the other. The oil pressure is electric, fuel is hydrostatic from a tube out of the tank with...

Re: 650x20 Tire Question 1938 Ford 1.5t

I put 6.50-20s on my '36 1.5 ton. I got them from Miller Tire (www.millertire.com (http://www.millertire.com)). Paid $195 per tire, $38 per tube, and $30 per flap. Beverly Miller is very nice to...

Re: 1936 Ford 1.5 ton V8 fuel gauge

The 36 truck used the 35 car fuel guage, which is hydrostatic. The pair you show is exactly the same as my 36 1.5 ton. I found a sender to go in the fuel tank and an oil pressure gauge on ebay. I...

Re: Steering wheel restoration

I used KBS NuMetal epoxy on my 36 1.5 ton steering wheel with good results. It is easy to work with.

Re: Hard starting when hot

I got my rebuilt coil back from Skip Haney and installed it with a F-5 condensor, modified to mount on and wire to the dome style coil, per posts in the archives, and re-connected the resistor under...

Re: Hard starting when hot

Skip Haney: I went to www.fordcollector.com and followed the instructions to send the coil to him with a check for $83.00 ($75 rebuild and $8 shipping).

Starter: The strange thing is that when...

Re: Hard starting when hot

I forgot to add that I did send the spare distributor mount coil to Skip Haney for rebuilding, so I can go back to the original style if I want to.

Re: Hard starting when hot

I moved one wire from one post to the other on the under dash resistor to bypass it and went for a test drive and got to full temperature. Upon return, I had no starting problems.

As an aside,...

Re: Hard starting when hot

I will try bypassing the external resistor. I went to the conversion coil because I exploded (literally) the one on the distributor when I left the ignition switch on, so I can't go back to that one....

Hard starting when hot

A couple of summers ago, I had trouble starting my 36 Truck after the engine was hot. All was good after I installed a phenolic spacer between the carb and manifold. Now I am having the problem...

Re: 35' Truck Headlight Rim Problem

I had the same problem with rings for my 36 truck from Bob Drake. I removed the rubber gasket in favor of cork, bent the fork on the bucket a little, and did some filing on the mating surface of the...

Re: 36 ford truck dash guages

My 36 1.5 ton had an original hydrostatic fuel gauge and others I have seen do as well. The tank has an opening in the bottom for the sending unit, while electrics are in the top. Old andtired's...

Re: 36 ford truck dash guages

To the right is a temp gauge and an amp gauge. To the left is an oil pressure gauge and a hydrostatic fuel gauge. There are two separate gauges under one bezel on each side. As Vanspeed says, you...

Re: New to Forum, starting new project

Welcome to the forum.

I retained the 6V (good wiring and cables), transmission (double clutching is fun), and mechanical brakes (there is no easy juice conversion). My use is very similar to what...

Re: What is this on bottom of steering?

Try to find an original spider for the end of the horn wire tube (shown in JSeery's first two photos). It is a very simple part, but the repro ones break easily. You'll have fun putting on the...

Re: 36' ford truck windshield

Jeff is right about removing the upper dash panel that the shaft of the crank handle runs through. It will likely have some rust out requiring repair on the bottom side.
