Re: Foamy Transmission Oil

Snychro, yes same, Penrite Transoil T250. I'm going to reinstall the shift tower tomorrow. Perhaps I will give the Penrite another try. As I had said earlier, I had no issues with Penrite, other than...

Re: install the felt into universal joint the right way

Ford changed the design in June 1929, Service Bulletins page 350. The picture in post #5 is the older design with unevenly spaced holes. Good luck Joe.

Re: Foamy Transmission Oil

Thanks Werner. I don't think either Penrite or Lucas 85W-140 are synthetics (altho Lucas does make a 75W-140 Synthetic Gear Oil). Those are the only gear oils that have been in this transmission. I...

Re: Foamy Transmission Oil

No to all three...

Thanks Werner for the info. That is good to know. I guess I was just shocked at how MUCH it foamed, and was still foamy a week later.

Lucas 85W-140 claims to be...

Re: Gas gauge gasket disintegrated

McMaster Carr. The gasket in the picture for a Marvel carburetor is 1/32" thick. They have all sizes available.

Fel-Pro has Cork/BUTA-N or Cork Nitrile sheets also.

I cut my own gaskets

Re: Foamy Transmission Oil

Hey Jim. I drive the car a minimum of once a week, 20-30 miles. Trans is Model A crash box.

I was under the impression Penrite was good stuff. Guess I will go back to using Lucas 85W-140.

Re: Foamy Transmission Oil

Yes, I checked the vent before I pulled the tower off. My first thought it was building pressure.

The Shift tower was recently rebuilt, ~ 6 months. I had replaced because the 'ball' was square. I...

Foamy Transmission Oil

I have had a small oil leak coming from the top front of my transmission on the drivers side for a while now. Yesterday I deciced to pull the floors out and investigate.
It appeared to be coming...

Re: Gas gauge gasket disintegrated

I use Cork/BUTA-N gaskets in my gas cap, carburetor, sediment bowl and gas gauge. Never had a problem with ethanol.

In the previous video about the Mail Truck that won awards in the Car Show I noticed in his intro he seemed out of breath. He wasn't at the show and said he was on "Special Assignment". Model 'T'...

Re: Marvel Carburetor Disection

Yes Herb is correct.

One thing to remember is on the Marvel when tuning is the idle mixture screw controls the gas flow so when you turn the screw in, it leans the idle mixture, out enrichens....

Re: attack of electrical gremlins

Good job OU.

When people install a main fuse in the system, I sometimes wonder if it would not be better to wire the generator/alternator to the battery side of the fuse instead of the fused side....

Re: What is this carb?

Yep. They have no name on them because they were sold under different names as stated in post #2. They had a decal with the name of the 'Brand' that are usually long gone.

Re: 2nd battery question for electric guru's

While on the subject of batteries, I'm curious if anyone uses 'Battery Oil' in your battery?

Battery Oil was brought up a few years ago by Willie Krash, a member that frequented the Model A site...

Re: Crimp style connector/wiring question

I crimp then use marine shrink tubing, the kind with glue inside. Makes a nice waterproof connection.

Re: Exhaust manifold question?

I agree, all will fit your '54 except the truck Rams Horn type exhaust. Altho they look cool, they exit right where your motor mounts want to be.

Re: Unusual extra side trim on 1956 Ford Fairlane Fordor Victoria.
