thanks. I am fairly certain the trans in the truck is a 39 because of serial #18-5018526 but has single detent shifter. I will double check the case number once I get it pulled. I bought Vern Tardels...

Looks like bore is 3.20” using a cheap digital caliper. Don’t know my plans yet for it other than want to save it just in case I want to rebuild a flatty with mild cam and other goodies down the road...

anyone know what this housing is from? not sure if it is Ford or even for automobile. Found it in a box of stuff while cleaning out my dads shop. Measures 8" long and 4" diameter.

Any NC barners used Stricklands for engine work? fella on the phone today said they do about 5 flattys a year. currently has 2 he is working on and 2 other engines in process too.

Ahhh, I see now that I have tired to put a wheel or two back on.....spacer is needed to center the wheel on the “hub” and provide the support.

so took the wheel back off and it seems that the drum has a ring already on there or does this drum already have a flat face as part of the casting? I haven't tried to remove the drum since I am not...

Yes good information. Now I am going to pull wheel off again to check for ring or if drum has a flat face on it where it meets the wheel.

Interesting. You probably noticed it has 17” wire wheels from the pic. Didn’t see a ring on there when I removed the wheel. Is this ring between the backing plate and spindle?

No not original brakes. Dad said it had hydraulic brakes. And it does have the 37-41 round spindles.

Thanks cas3. Good point Charlie, that is one thing I still need to check. My dad said he upgraded to hydraulic brakes but I need to verify. Probably post pics later or tomorrow here to double check...
